Ace of Wands

The Ace of Wands represents a creative impulse, a desire to act and a possibility of beginning that looks for a shape.

What the card shows

A hand comes out of a cloud and holds a wand on which leaves start to appear. The wand stands above a landscape, and the cloud stays the only visible origin.

Its light

A first commitment gives an intention a real shape. A concrete gesture brings the project out of the possible, and the drive finds support in what is real.

Its shadow

A strong impulse stays without structure: beginning does not mean knowing how to carry on. Launched without a frame, the flame falls back and leaves the project half planted.

Notes on the symbolism

RWS. Ace of Wands. The palm held out from the sky comes from emblem books, and the leafy stem opens the ten numbered ranks of the suit.
