Ace of Swords

The Ace of Swords marks a mental breakthrough, a truth put plainly or a decision that cuts through and sets ideas back in order.

What the card shows

The Ace of Swords brings a hand out of a cloud gripping a crowned sword, between two branches. The gaze rises along the blade to the crown, in a sky empty around it.

Its light

The crown set on the guard marks what is decided: one short sentence gives a name to the blur, the problem becomes workable, and your attention comes free of doubt.

Its shadow

The blade comes out of the cloud and comes straight down: you cut in order to be right, the sentence lands true, and the bond at stake comes after the word won.

Notes on the symbolism

RWS. Ace of Swords. The palm and the olive on the diadem state victory and peace: a received idea supposes both, not the single edge of the blade.
