The Four of Swords brings mental activity back to calm. Rest here takes the shape of a chosen retreat, until thought finds its organisation again.
A knight rests on a tomb, his hands joined, three swords hanging above him and a fourth along his body. Around him, a closed and silent place.
Rest given its right place makes thought readable: the fourth blade sleeps along the body, and three others wait for a decision you take up again.
The pause settles and stretches: you confuse the rest you need with the retreat that excuses you from answering, and requests pile up.
RWS. Four of Swords. The figure lying down takes up the pose of the recumbent effigies, the stone likenesses placed in churches, which the illustrator draws on.
Set a short stretch where you read nothing and decide nothing, then hold to it firmly. Note what comes back up in that silence.
