The Nameless Arcana carries a radical transformation, not a literal death. It points to stripping down and the need to clear the ground.
A skeleton reaps at the centre of the card, and heads, hands and feet come out of the earth. The scythe crosses the image in one continuous movement, with no figure turning away.
Removing what clutters makes a structure simpler and easier to breathe in. Chosen stripping down frees room for what matters.
Change goes wrong when it serves to escape a difficulty instead of closing a cycle: the scythe then cuts into what is living, and the emptiness left frightens.
Symbolism TdM. The Nameless Arcana. The thirteenth card stays without a name in the Marseille tradition, which refers to it by its rank rather than by a title written on its face.
