The Moon

The Moon stands for the inner world, shifting perceptions, the imagination and the areas where information stays incomplete.

What the card shows

The moon carries a face above two towers that frame the scene. Between them, a dog and a wolf howl, while a crayfish comes out of the pool in the foreground.

Its light

Naming what rises as a sensation, without turning it into certainty, puts a little light back on the path. The fog remains, but you know where you set your foot.

Its shadow

When facts are missing, the mind fills the void and takes its scenarios for observations. An old fear slips into intuition, and the decision is made on fog.

Notes on the symbolism

Symbolism TdM. The Moon. The Marseille version traces no path in this landscape, unlike later tarots that add a marked way through it.

What this card invites you to do

Wait until you have checked before concluding: an impression alone is not enough to decide. Go find a reference outside yourself before following your reading.

A card does not decide for you.
It shows you where to look.
